The City of North Vancouver’s new Crosscut Bridge will officially open on Thursday, August 20.
The bridge will open to the public at 12 p.m., with celebrations continuing at Loutet Park until 4 p.m. According to the news release, the free, family-friendly event will include entertainment and activities, and residents will have the opportunity to be among the first to walk, cycle or roll across the new pedestrian and cycling connection. The celebration will take place at 1700 Rufus Ave, accessible via the Crosscut Bridge south access at Loutet Park.
The Crosscut Bridge, formerly known as the Casano-Loutet Overpass, spans the Upper Levels Highway and provides people of all ages and abilities with a safe and accessible pathway between schools, services and neighbourhoods. According to the news release, the bridge will improve access to parks, recreation areas, community amenities and key North Vancouver destinations, including Lynn Valley Town Centre.
Following the official opening, festivities in Loutet Park will feature live music and opportunities for residents to learn more about the new infrastructure and its role in supporting active transportation in the city. The City hosts the Crosscut Bridge Community Celebration in partnership with TransLink and Our Community Bikes.
