North Vancouver RCMP are investigating a fatal collision between a cyclist and a commercial vehicle that occurred at the intersection of West 1st Street and MacKay Road.

According to a news release, on June 29, 2026, at approximately 7:45 a.m., officers received multiple reports of a serious collision at the intersection. Frontline officers and paramedics attended the scene and rendered first aid to the cyclist, a woman in her 60s from Vancouver, who was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Initial witness information indicates the commercial vehicle was turning left from West 1st Street onto MacKay Road to travel northbound when the collision occurred. The commercial vehicle had a green light at the time. The cyclist was travelling northbound, attempting to cross West 1st Street from the south side of the intersection.

“This was a tragic incident resulting in the loss of life,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “The RCMP are conducting a thorough investigation and are working with partner agencies including Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Service (ICARS) to determine what happened.”

According to the news release, anyone who witnessed the collision or has video footage is asked to contact North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file 26-13164.
