The District of North Vancouver is inviting residents to participate in upcoming in-person and virtual open houses to learn more about how the community will accommodate significant housing growth as mandated by the Province.
Under updated legislation passed by the Province in 2023 and 2024—including Bills 44, 46, 47, and 16—municipalities like North Vancouver must speed up housing and increase density in areas closer to transit. As part of this provincial direction, the District of North Vancouver must now update its Official Community Plan (OCP) to allow 22,369 new homes by 2041, aligning with the Province’s identified 20-year housing need.
District of North Vancouver has already changed new coach house regulations, updated its housing needs report and changed what it charges developers to build more housing.
