Starting September 2026, the District of North Vancouver will expand credit card payment options for several services, making it easier for residents, businesses, contractors, and permit applicants to pay online, according to the news release by DNV.
To support the change, a 2% credit card processing fee will be applied to eligible payments made by credit card, according to the news release.
The expanded payment options will cover permits, business licenses, security deposits associated with permits and licenses of up to $10,000, utility fees, and property taxes. These changes will allow customers to complete more transactions online using a single payment method.
The 2% processing fee will be added to eligible payments made by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, and the fee will be displayed before a transaction is completed, according to the news release.
Customers who prefer not to pay the credit card processing fee can continue to use other available payment methods. Payments made by methods other than credit card are not subject to a processing fee.
