West Vancouver police are seeking video footage and witnesses after an impaired driver in a Porsche struck multiple vehicles and drove onto the seawall Monday evening.

In a press release, the West Vancouver Police Department said officers received a 911 call around 7:18 p.m. on December 15 reporting a suspected impaired driver leaving a local establishment. Responding officers later found a heavily damaged 2023 purple/brown Porsche Panamera abandoned on 16th Street between Bellevue Avenue and Marine Drive.

Witnesses provided a description of the driver, who was located shortly after and arrested for impaired driving, according to WVPD.

Investigators have conducted a neighbourhood canvass to collect CCTV and dashcam footage and to identify any additional damaged vehicles that may have been struck during the incident. Police believe the vehicle travelled along several streets before stopping, including:

  • 1400 block of Marine Drive
  • 200 block of 15th Street
  • 1300, 1400, and 1500 blocks of Bellevue Avenue
  • 1300 block of the West Vancouver seawall
  • 200 block of 16th Street

Residents or business owners who discover unexplained vehicle damage from the evening of December 15, or who have security or dashcam footage, are asked to contact WVPD at 604-925-7300 and quote file number 25-12884. A map of the vehicle’s route is available at bit.ly/4pKr0mH.

Police thanked the public for their quick action in reporting the incident, noting that timely 911 and non-emergency calls helped officers locate and arrest the suspect before anyone was injured.

WVPD is also reminding residents to plan ahead for a sober ride home during the holiday season.
