A BC Ferry on the Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen route last week had to be turned around after an altercation over wearing a mask.
Chris Manseau, a RCMP media relations officer on Vancouver Island, said the altercation took place when a passenger was challenged by a BC Ferries staff member.
The staff member had questioned the passenger on the way the mask was being worn by the passenger.
The argument intensified to the point where a decision was made to turn the ferry back.
The passenger was issued $460 in fines, and was also prohibited from any travel in BC Ferries for that day.
The passenger was later taken to the Victoria airport by police.
