North Vancouver RCMP ticketed five drivers for speeding on Low Level Road. The drivers were travelling at 121 km/h in a 60 zone, North Van RCMP said in a tweet.
“Excessive speeding tickets aren’t cheap and we seem to be getting a lot of them in the last two nights,” the police said.
“This was the 5th excessive speeding issued and it was on Low Level Rd at 121 km/h in a 60 zone. Speeders like this need to learn to respect other road users.”
Meanwhile, ICBC and police have launched a campaign to protect pedestrians as weather conditions worsen and the risk of pedestrian crashes increases.
Between October and January, pedestrian fatalities increase by an average of 54% in BC. That is why ICBC and police are urging drivers and pedestrians to do their part to help prevent crashes.
Distracted driving and failing to yield the right-of-way are the top contributing factors for drivers in crashes with pedestrians, with 80% of crashes involving pedestrians happening at intersections.
