The City of North Vancouver has a new award to be proud of.
Foot of Lonsdale plaza has won a national award for small-scale public landscape design.
The award, given by Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, honours small-scale public design that recognized the water feature, MegaBench and the fun people place vibe of the plaza.
“The site was transformed into an instantly-treasured destination thanks to intentional placemaking and design. The elegant but bold landscape is harmonious with — and holds its own within — a complex and buzzing context,” the society said.
The Awards of Excellence honour distinctive design, ground-breaking research, and sustainable landscape management.
Last year, Halifax won the award of excellence in the same category for creating a pedestrian oriented main street that priorities public space along the riverfront.
