Jaime Webbe, a West Vancouver resident and international sustainability leader, has launched her campaign for West Vancouver Council in the upcoming municipal election.
According to the news release, Webbe brings more than two decades of experience in international diplomacy at the United Nations and the World Bank, with a career focused on climate change, biodiversity loss, sustainable development, and gender equity. She says those issues inform her push for data-driven, responsible development in West Vancouver.

She previously served as President & CEO of the United Nations Association in Canada and led UBC’s Canadian International Resources Development Institute — experience she says shaped her commitment to expanding youth engagement in municipal governance.
A Collingwood School graduate with a Master of Arts in Geography from McGill University, Webbe has lived and worked in Denmark, Kenya, and the United States. She is raising her three children locally, two at Mulgrave School and one at École Cedardale.
“I bring a global perspective, but my feet are firmly planted here, in the schools, rinks, and neighbourhoods of West Vancouver,” Webbe said.
According to the news release, Webbe volunteers with West Vancouver’s Hockey for Autism program and has spoken to local students about her UN experience. She previously sat on the West Vancouver Community Engagement Committee and currently advises the Airbus Foundation.
Her campaign rests on four priorities: protecting West Vancouver’s forests, shoreline, and mountain ecosystems while supporting evidence-based growth; building an inclusive community regardless of background or ability; applying international best practices and a human-rights-based approach to local decisions; and expanding youth involvement in municipal governance, including seats on community boards and advisory groups.
“I’m running because I believe that our local government can, and should, reflect the same rigour, inclusion, and long-term thinking I’ve spent my career bringing to the global stage,” Webbe said.
