Free ashes-scattering ceremony in North Van for those who haven’t memorialised their loved ones

Many people have feelings of guilt or regret for not having memorialized their loved ones

A North Vancouver funeral home will host a free scattering ceremony in November.

Dignity Memorial will host a free scattering ceremony for those who have not completed the final memorialization of their loved one’s cremated on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m.

“It’s common for people to have feelings of guilt or regret for not having already memorialized their loved one, and they are often at a place where they don’t quite know what to do about it,” said Kevin Mintenko, Location Manager at First Memorial Funeral Services & Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens.

“Our community scattering event will remove those barriers and provide the peace and closure everyone needs after suffering a loss.”

The event will begin at 11 a.m. with a life celebration and words of comfort in the location’s chapel for those who wish to participate.

Following the ceremony, participants will walk together to a serene, beautifully landscaped cremation garden where they can hold a private memorial celebration and remember their loved one.

The event is open to the public, and members of the community who will not be scattering  are also welcome to attend.

The locations requests that participants register for the event by Tuesday, Oct. 15 by calling  604-980-3451.
