Metro Vancouver has closed the Grouse Grind Trail due to heavy snow.
“For your safety, that of park staff and of first responders, please respect the closure,” Metro Vancouver said.
Parks staff will be assessing the trail conditions daily and advice the public when the trail is safe to reopen.
Heavy rain has washed out a portion of the BCMC Route, causing a debris slide which makes access dangerous.
Until further notice, the lower portion of the BCMC Route has also been closed.
A geotechnical assessment is underway to determine damage and needed repairs.
In the interim, a detour for the BCMC Route is in place that uses the Powerline Trail to Larsen Trail, from where it connects to the BCMC route.
The Skyride and mountaintop facilities operated by Grouse Mountain Resort are expected to open tomorrow.
The facilities have been closed since October 18 for annual maintenance.
