Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver, particularly near the North Shore mountains.
Heavy downpours are likely today over the south coast, but a few heavy downpours could give rainfall rates of 15 to 20 mm within one hour, particularly near the North Shore Mountains.
This area is more prone to localized flooding with these rainfall rates, says Environment Canada.
An upper disturbance embedded in a southwest flow of moist, unstable air will move across the south coast today.
Consequently, widespread showers and isolated embedded thunderstorms are in store for much of the day in Metro Vancouver and in North Shore.
Heavy downpours will continue today, and can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, Environment Canada warns.
