Heavy winds are in store for the North Shore. Strong winds will begin tonight and carry into Tuesday.
Strong southeast winds of 50 km/h gusting to 70 followed by southwest winds of 40 km/h gusting to 60 km/h can be expected.
Besides Metro Vancouver, heavy winds can be expected in Howe Sound, Inland Vancouver Island.
“Winds will peak near 50 km/h with gusts up to 70 during the overnight hours. The southeast winds will shift to southwest 40 km/h gusting to 60 early Tuesday morning and continue through the day,” the agency says.
For Howe Sound, northerly outflow winds of 40 km/h gusting to 60 will develop tonight. By early Tuesday morning, the winds will quickly switch to southwest inflow with speeds of 50 km/h gusting to 70.
For inland Vancouver Island, the more impactful southwest winds will develop by early Tuesday morning with speeds of 30 km/h gusting to 60.
