The River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for North Shore.
The advisory is also applicable to other South Coast communities, including tributaries around the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound, Lillooet River, North Shore Mountains, Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and surrounding areas.
The advisory means that river levels are rising or expected to rise rapidly, but that no major flooding is expected.
Rivers are forecast to reach their highest flows on Saturday or Sunday depending on the timing and intensity of the rainfall.
There is a possibility that additional storms will arrive early next week.
The public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-streamflow period.
