One person was taken into custody under the Mental Health Act on Sunday after a multi-agency emergency response at the BC Ferries terminal in Horseshoe Bay that disrupted service for several hours.
West Vancouver police were called to the terminal at 11:56 a.m. on April 19 regarding an individual in distress. As the situation developed, police called in the Vancouver Police Department’s Emergency Response Team and Marine Unit, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 1, and BC Emergency Health Services.
The terminal was temporarily closed and several ferry sailings were held while officers worked to resolve the incident.
The individual was transported to hospital for assessment following the apprehension. Police have not released further details about the person involved or the circumstances that led to the call.
