The District of North Vancouver has announced plans to install new, permanent fibre optic infrastructure along the south side of West Queens Road, spanning from Edgemont Boulevard to Bewicke Avenue. The district says this upgrade will enhance the existing fiber optic network, which serves as a critical linkage between District Hall and the North Vancouver District Public Library.
Scheduled to commence in June and end by July 2024, the construction project will lead to temporary road closures, sidewalk detours, and on-street parking restrictions in the specified area. Furthermore, upon completion of the infrastructure work, West Queens Road is earmarked for repaving, subject to weather conditions.
More detailed information about the repaving project is expected to be released soon.
During the construction phase, temporary closures at the southern ends of the Woodbine, Colwood, and Thorncliffe Drive intersections are to be expected. While efforts will be made to maintain two-lane traffic along West Queens Road, intermittent closures may be enforced for safety reasons.
Short-term sidewalk closures are also anticipated. Appropriate signage will also be installed in the vicinity to guide and inform residents and commuters. .
