Join for community clean-up in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside

May 25, 2022 1:26pm

Right now, thousands of people in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside are unfairly shut out of meaningful work and opportunity. They face many barriers stacking against them—like experiencing homelessness, poverty, life trauma, mental health challenges, discrimination, living with disabilities, and more.

Mission Possible (MP), a charity transforming lives through meaningful work for more than three decades, meets these challenges head-on by providing employment training, individual coaching, and supportive, transitional work opportunities via their Employment Readiness Program.

To raise funds and continue to provide these in-demand and transformative programs, Mission Possible is thrilled to announce The Cleanest Day of the Year- a kick-off event celebrating their MP Associates as part of our Clean Heroes Campaign!

On June 11th, become a Clean Team Hero by registering for the community clean-up in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. This is an opportunity to impact your local community and assist MP in reaching its goal of raising $150,000 to support 30 people in starting and finishing the Employment Readiness Program!

This family-friendly event will begin at Mission Possible’s Headquarters: 648 E. Hastings Street. Registration starts at 9:00 am, and the kick-off rally at 9:45 am. Leading the clean-up will be associates and staff of Mission Possible and will culminate with food, refreshments and prizes!

Mission Possible will provide all supplies needed to help get the job done, including cleaning supplies, gloves and high-visibility vests. There will also be bubbles and a sidewalk chalk Instagram station for everyone to leave inspirational messages of thanks.

If you cannot make the in-person event, you can join MP remotely by registering for the event and cleaning up a section of your own neighbourhood. The Clean Heroes Campaign will run all summer long until Labour Day! Be sure to like and share your efforts on their Instagram by tagging @missionpossible.

Mission Possible’s associates have long provided street cleaning services in the neighbourhood to keep the community clean and safe. Register today! Your participation is what makes their Mission Possible.
