Two-term District of North Vancouver Councillor Jordan Back has officially launched his re-election campaign, saying the community faces a series of consequential decisions that will shape its future for generations.
Back, a lifelong district resident, has served on council since first being elected in 2018. According to a news release, he has built a reputation during his two terms for practical, community-focused initiatives spanning public spaces, active transportation, town centres, community amenities, and support for young families.

“Over the past eight years, I’ve worked hard to be an accessible, thoughtful, and independent voice on Council,” Back said. “I care deeply about this community because it’s home.”
Among his stated priorities for the next term is addressing the future of aging recreation facilities. Back singled out Ron Andrews Recreation Centre and Karen Magnussen Community Recreation Centre as facilities requiring serious long-term planning.
“These facilities are incredibly important community hubs, and we need to be thinking creatively about how we renew and replace them in a way that meets the needs of future generations,” he said.
Back also flagged regional transportation as a key issue, calling for a more unified North Shore voice in advocating for the replacement of the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing — a project he described as critical to mobility, economic resilience, trade, and emergency preparedness.
On the broader challenge facing the municipality, Back pointed to housing, affordability, and infrastructure as issues requiring careful stewardship as the community grows. He also emphasized the importance of municipal advocacy as more direction flows down from senior levels of government, the released noted.
“Local government is where many of the decisions that most directly impact people’s daily lives get made,” Back said.
Outside of his council work, Back is employed in the out-of-home advertising industry and has a background in music and community involvement. He has served on several local bodies, including the North Vancouver Chamber, the District of North Vancouver Library Board, the Museum and Archives Commission, and Metro Vancouver’s Industrial Lands Strategy Task Force.
Back and his wife, Signy, are raising their two children in Lynn Valley. The next District of North Vancouver municipal election is scheduled for October 17, 2026.
