Library, most Lynn Valley Village businesses remain closed; IHIT continues investigation

Staff report
March 28, 2021 11:36am

The RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is leading the investigation in the stabbing incident in Lynn Valley that left one woman dead and six injured.

Areas of Lynn Valley Village remain closed off this morning, Sunday, March 28.

According to an update by area merchants, most businesses in the plaza are not open. Please check with the business you plan to visit or have an appointment with to see if they are open today.

Meanwhile in an update, District of North Vancouver said library staff and volunteers were unharmed in the incident and the library remains closed until further notice.

The quick actions and training of first responders is to be commended, district noted.
“Personnel were on scene within minutes to support the RCMP and tend to the wounded, and our partner agencies worked together to help those in need,” DNV said.

If you have information that may be helpful to the RCMP investigation, please call 604-985-1311.

CNV Mayor Mike Little issued the following statement:

“Lynn Valley and the whole District of North Vancouver is a close-knit, quiet community.  An incident like this is deeply upsetting when it happens in the community we love. Certainly on behalf of residents I send our very best wishes to the victims and their families, who were just out on their regular Saturday business. I appreciate the quick action and excellent teamwork of our first responders, our District Fire and Rescue Services, the RCMP, and our North Shore partners from the City and West Vancouver.

I encourage any witnesses to contact the North Van RCMP to help them with their investigation.”
