Line-up announced for new Squamish music festival

April 30, 2019 2:18am

Toronto-based Columbian artist Jessie Reyez will headline the Squamish Constellation Festival on Saturday, July 26.

Along with Reyez, Juno Award-winning rapper Shad as well as east coast indie-rock group Wintersleep are also part of the final line-up announced by the Squamish Constellation Festival today.

The inaugural festival will take place in Hendrickson Field on July 26 – 28, 2019.

Reyez is a Juno and Socan Award-winning artist. Last year she collaborated with some of the biggest music stars including Eminem, Sam Smith, and Calvin Harris.

She recently dropped her new single “Imported” with 6LACK.

Shad (Shadrach Kabango) was voted the “2nd Greatest Rapper Ever in Canada” by a CBC poll of his peers in Canadian hip hop.

He was the host of CBC’s flagship arts and culture show q, and is the host award-winning documentary Hip Hop Evolution (Netflix). His latest album, A Short Story About A War, is out now.

Wintersleep formed in 2001 in Halifax, and have released six studio albums. The most recent, The Great Detachment, came out this year on Dine Alone Records to critical acclaim.

“We are so excited to add these incredible artists to our lineup!” said festival co-founder Tamara Stanners, adding “Jessie’s messages of empowerment, Shad and his rap wisdom, and East Coast indie-rock royalty Wintersleep showcase the diversity of Canada’s music scene and the lineup of our first Squamish Constellation Festival. We can’t wait!

Squamish Constellation Festival will feature live visual performance and interactive art all weekend long. Plus, the best local beverages and brews crafted in Squamish, and a huge assortment of fantastic food trucks.
