The hiker lost near The Lions on the Howe Sound Crest Trail has been located.
Lions Bay Search and Rescue was called out on Wednesday night for a missing hiker between Cypress Bowl and The West Lions.
Rescue teams from the Lower Mainland, including the North Shore Rescue, were part of the search team that had been looking for the missing man.
The man spent the night in a drainage below the HSCT on the East side, according to North Shore Rescue.
He was identified as Zheng-hui Tang. After spending the night in the backcountry, he eventually found a logging road in the watershed where he was found by a contractor who gave him a ride back to the security gate.
The man was assessed and then flown back to Lions Bay.
Search teams scouting the area had earlier found items left by him in the drainage, according to North Shore Rescue.
They were following his route when he walked out into the road and came across the contractor. He is reportedly in ‘remarkable’ conditions despite having spent the night in the backcountry with no extra clothing.
He had only a small amount of water and food and was unprepared for the backcountry, according to Lions Bay Search and Rescue search manager Martin Colwell.
