Lower Lonsdale has been named one of the “coolest” neighbourhoods in Canada by Maclean’s Magazine.
According to the news release, the August 2026 issue features a list of the “coolest places to eat, drink and explore in Canada,” with Maclean’s local editors and experts writing “love letters” to each neighbourhood. Lower Lonsdale is included alongside areas such as Calgary’s Inglewood and Toronto’s Davenport Districts.
City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan called the recognition “a wonderful recognition and one that our entire city can be proud of,” according to the news release, describing Lower Lonsdale as a vibrant waterfront community where local businesses, restaurants, culture, creativity, and stunning views come together.
Buchanan added that the recognition reflects the passion of the residents, entrepreneurs, artists, and everyone who calls Lower Lonsdale home, and said the City remains committed to investing in a walkable, welcoming neighbourhood that supports local businesses, celebrates the waterfront, and creates spaces for people to connect and thrive.
According to the news release, the City of North Vancouver continues to gain national recognition for its dynamic public and cultural spaces and its livability, having been ranked the “Most Livable City in Canada” for two consecutive years in The Globe and Mail’s 2024 and 2025 Most Livable Canadian Cities Report.
The City is inviting residents to celebrate Lower Lonsdale, whether through local art, summer concerts, food and breweries, or public spaces and festivals at the Shipyards.
