A man was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly threatening people with an axe and damaging restaurant property near Main Street and East 24th Avenue.
According to the news release by the Vancouver Police Department, police received reports that a man was threatening passersby, throwing cutlery toward a restaurant storefront, and smashing plates on the restaurant’s patio. Officers responded immediately and located the suspect within minutes.
With assistance from the VPD Canine Unit, officers took the 29-year-old man into custody. The suspect was taken to hospital with injuries before being released on an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
