A 40-year-old man has been charged after a residential break-in in Vancouver.

Police were called to the area of Grant Street and Victoria Drive after a resident discovered a man inside her home. The woman was on the second floor and encountered the suspect when she came downstairs.

According to the news release by VPD, the man allegedly grabbed several items before fleeing the home. Neighbours heard the woman scream and called police, providing officers with a description of the suspect.

Officers in the area located a man matching the description and arrested him with assistance from the Canine Unit, according to the news release. Some of the stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.

Malcolm Anthony Lowe, 40, has been charged with one count of break-and-enter and remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

“We’re thankful the neighbours promptly reported the incident,” said Constable Megan Lui, according to the news release. “They provided information that helped our officers make the arrest.”
