A man has been arrested and charged with assault following two separate incidents in the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone.
According to the news release, officers patrolling the area at approximately 6 p.m. were approached by a woman who identified a man she said had swung his fist in her direction.
As officers moved in to speak with him, they witnessed him attempt to punch a second woman, the news release noted. The man then fled on foot before being caught and arrested after a brief chase.

According to the news release, the man has been the subject of several complaints involving violence and confrontational behaviour in the pedestrian zone in recent weeks. An assault charge has since been approved against him.
