North Vancouver RCMP are investigating two structure fires this morning, and are asking for any witnesses or anyone with video footage to contact them.

“We’re asking anyone who may have video surveillance, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious near these locations between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. this morning, to please contact us at 604-985-1311.”

Just before 6:45 a.m. on March 30, RCMP were notified of a structure fire at the Lynn Valley Lodge located at 1371 Lynn Valley Rd.

North Vancouver District Fire Rescue Services worked to contain the blaze as traffic was diverted away from Lynn Valley Rd. between Mountain Hwy. and Allan Rd.

A few minutes later, just before 7 am, RCMP were notified of a second structure fire at Duke of Connaught Lodge No. 64 (North Vancouver Masonic Centre) located at 1142 Lonsdale avenue.

The building was fully engulfed while North Vancouver City Fire Department fought the fire, and Lonsdale Avenue was closed between 13th St. West and 8th St. West.

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation,” says Sgt. Peter DeVries of the North Vancouver RCMP.

“As the investigation unfolds, we will gain a better understanding of the cause of these fires, whether or not they are related, and if the evidence will establish that these were in fact the result of arson.”

RCMP are asking that anyone with information about these fires contact them.

If you have information about these incidents, but wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
