Metro Vancouver plans day rate parking at Lynn Headwater park

Paid parking comes into effect this coming Monday, March 29
Staff report

Metro Vancouver is looking into a day rate parking at Lynn Headwater Park where paid parking comes into effect this Monday, March 29.

The paid parking will be in effect from March 1 to October 31, although this year it goes into effect on March 29.

The parking rate is $2 per hour, although Metro Vancouver said it  is looking into a daily rate as well.

There is no time limit on parking, although the parking hours are limited to the park open and close hours.

Pay parking is in effect in the paved lot, overflow lots and road shoulder as indicated by signs in the park.

Visitors to the park can pay using a credit card at the machines installed at the three parking lots.

Metro Vancouver is also working on establishing a reliable Wi-Fi signal so that it will be possible to pay by app in future. .

“Pay parking is never a popular approach, but it can help limit length of stay, increase turnover, as well as promote carpooling, transit use and cycling,” Metro Vancouver said.

Metro Vancouver said it will continue to use all available management tools to alleviate parking problems related to parking capacity.

“The goal is to reduce the number of cars, not the number of visitors,” Metro Vancouver said.

Paid parking is also in effect from April 1 until September 30 at Belcarra Regional Park.
