A hiker missing since yesterday in the Mt. Fromme area in North Vancouver has been found dead.

The man was accompanied by another person while hiking in the area around 7 am on Friday.

The hiker was hiking up Mt. Fromme from Kennedy Falls with the partner when he decided to turn around.

The two separated and was last seen at 800 metre between Fromme and Kennedy falls, and was descending, according to North Shore Rescue.

North Shore Rescue activated a search, including the use of ground search personnel and a helicopter. The search continued until dark, and was again resumed this morning at 6:00 a.m., 2021-05-22.

However, at around 10:30 this morning, the missing man was located dead, a short distance from the location where the pair became separated.

BC Coroners Service is now conducting an investigation.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, the name of the man is not being released.

When you hike with a partner you STAY with your partner! ALWAYS. This is why the hiking trails should be closed or lead by experienced NS hike leaders.
