City of North Vancouver Mayor said he won’t be seeking re-election as Mayor in this October’s municipal election.
In a statement posted to the CNV website, Mussatto said it has been an honour and a privilege to serve the community for almost 25 years – 13 as Mayor and 12 as Councillor.
“It has been an incredible experience and I feel blessed to have been part of one of the best communities to live in anywhere,” he said.
:When I entered politics I wanted to make a difference and to give back to the community. As Mayor my primary goal was to make our community more environmentally sustainable and to leave our city in a better place. Our overall greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced and we are on target to become GHG free within a generation. We have made significant change and become a leader in how to build an inclusive and accepting community.”

Very happy to see him go. He is the ONLY Mayor of the City of North Vancouver where hundreds (possibly thousands) have been forced out of their rental homes. He is definitely a puppet for the developers and as such NOT representing the majority. This will only become a fair inclusive community when it includes seniors on low retirement funds, people on long term disabilities and those with minimum wage jobs. The City will only accomplish that if his little co-horsts Keating, Buchannan and Black leave as well. Sadly big wealth is coming in to North Vancouver City so quickly I just see a place for the super rich, few of whom will be born in Vancouver and care even less about the history of the city.
He is really alluding himself if he thinks he has left some kind of decent legacy – how could he when he has been depriving decent people of a home?
Good buy and good riddance

Mussatto sold out the beautiful City of North Vancouver! He’s got less than 6 months and the developer payback is grinding out in full force. His current focus? Replacing a significant amount of older, modestly-priced rental stock with a “canyon” of 6-storey condo/rental units on Lonsdale Avenue directly above the highway. These projects provide below required vehicle parking, but lots of bicycle slots, great for cycling around the upper levels! His real “legacy?” He continues to evict families, seniors, lower income residents and artists out of North Van city, approving massive rebuilding as a courtesy to his developer campaign funders. Currently, his not-so-secret plan to sell city-owned green space and a lane to a SINGLE developer for a massive windfall profit. He’s also supporting his development-pro sidekick councillor Keating (involved in a land assembly above the highway), in an insane quest (Mar 12 council mtg item 24), to again shove a gambling facility down citizen’s throats to subsidize the over-bloated $210 million Harry Jerome rebuild. How about that, the new HJ is located just across from the above-mentioned land assembly. So yeah, Mussatto’s leaving, but not before he twists his knife in North Vancouver for final measure.
