A novice driver’s car was impounded by North Vancouver police for going at more than double the posted speed limit.
The “N” driver was stopped by North Vancouver traffic unit last night on Highway 1. While the speed limit is 80 km/h, the driver was clocked by police at 166km/h.
“The rules are real and the penalties are serious: tickets, tow, seven-day impound, insurance points…$1000 and counting,” North Van RCMP tweeted.
“AND no road test for a while.”
North Vancouver RCMP is also reminding people that school is back in session and so are school zone speed limits.
“Please pay attention to all signage – failing to obey a traffic control device comes with a fine of $121 and 2 points. We patrol these areas to make sure that our North Vancouver kids get to school safely,” said Sgt. Peter DrVries of North Van RCMP.
