Justine Bell, NDP Federal Candidate in North Vancouver – is hosting a fundraising dinner to the cultural and economic relationship with the coast and to inspire action for a sustainable future.
On Wednesday, June 26th long time NDP Fisheries and Oceans critic Fin Donnelly will ‘spur a tidal wave good conversation’ by sharing the NDP vision for a sustainable and inclusive future.
Bell said she has heard from residents that are concerned about decades of Liberal and Conservative mismanagement that have left the coast in a desperate situation: fish populations are declining and the health of the marine ecosystems are at risk.
“These choices have left fishing communities and workers struggling. There is also the choice that was made to buy a $4.5 billion pipeline that further puts our future at risk,” she said.
The NDP just released the “New Deal for People” which outlines the New Democrat’s commitment to upholding indigenous peoples rights and its vision of strong coastal communities, sustainable fisheries and thriving marine and freshwater ecosystems.
“We know with the right choices today, we can uphold indigenous peoples rights, protect our fisheries and the jobs they provide for generations to come – and make Canada a global leader in ocean and freshwater sustainability,” Bell said.
