The City of North Vancouver’s long-awaited Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre will open its doors in late July, City officials confirmed at the March 2 Council meeting.
Designed by award-winning architecture firm HCMA, the 188,450-square-foot complex will include an NHL-sized arena with seating for 500 spectators, multiple aquatics and wellness spaces, a full-sized gymnasium, a community kitchen, indoor and outdoor fitness spaces, and art, youth, preschool, and multi-purpose rooms, along with a café and informal gathering areas.

Mayor Linda Buchanan called it a landmark moment for the city. “This is more than a community recreation centre — it is a bold investment in our health, wellbeing and shared future,” she said.
The centre will be operated by the North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission and will offer programs, services, and rentals. According to the news release, transition details from the current HJCRC to the new facility will be announced in the coming months.
The HJCRC is part of a broader recreation precinct also set to include the new Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre, the renovated Mickey McDougall Community Recreation Centre — future home of Flicka Gymnastics — and the recently completed North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Clubhouse and Greens.
