Newly reported cases of COVID-19 are on the decline in North Shore.
According to the latest weekly data, from January 2 to 8, there were 439 new cases of COVID-19, with 358 cases from North Vancouver and 81 cases in West Vancouver.
The newly reported cases this week are less than half of what was reported last week, when BCCDC reported 908 cases.
However, the reduction may not be a true indicator of the actual cases as many people have expressed frustration about access to COVID-19 testing in the area.
Meanwhile, the indoor programs and dining at the Seniors Activity Centre have been suspended as staff and volunteers test positive for COVID-19.
“The number of people who have tested positive or are self-monitoring has had an impact on staffing and volunteer availability, and indoor programs at the Seniors’ Activity Centre have been temporarily suspended,” West Vancouver said in a statement.
Wellness checks are being conducted by telephone to ensure seniors who may be impacted by the weather conditions or the pandemic get the support they need.
