A 15-year-old rider is out $368 and without his e-dirt bike for a week after North Vancouver RCMP officers caught him performing wheelies — while standing on the seat — along Viewlynn Drive Wednesday afternoon.
According to the news release, traffic officers observed the youth riding the e-dirt bike at high speed on Viewlynn Drive at around 4:00 p.m. on May 27 while performing wheelies with his right foot on the seat and both hands on the handlebars. Officers stopped the rider a short distance away.

The teen was issued a $368 fine for stunting. The e-dirt bike, described as illegal, was impounded for seven days. His parents were notified of the incident.
The stop is one of 15 e-mobility-related tickets North Vancouver RCMP have issued since May 14. Violations have included riding without insurance, operating without a driver’s licence, riding without a helmet, and underage operation.
The enforcement push follows months of public education. According to the news release, police and public safety partners have been running awareness campaigns since January 2026, targeting parents and youth about the risks of e-dirt bikes and e-scooters after a rise in complaints about unsafe and illegal use on streets, parks, and other public spaces. A significant share of those complaints involved youth riding without helmets, on sidewalks, and at excessive speeds near pedestrians.
“Traffic safety remains a focused priority for the North Vancouver RCMP, with specific attention on high-risk driving behaviour,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, North Vancouver RCMP Media Relations Officer. “When necessary, our officers will take appropriate enforcement action to help prevent a tragic collision in our community.”
According to the news release, officers are engaging riders and their guardians continue to focus on safety requirements, legal obligations, and liabilities tied to improper use, with enforcement applied where circumstances call for it. Residents unsure about the legality of their electric bike are encouraged to consult ICBC’s electric bike information page.
