A 58-year-old North Vancouver man has been charged following a child exploitation investigation by the Port Moody Police Department.

According to the news release by the Port Moody Police Department, police received information in spring 2025 alleging that a vulnerable youth had been sexually exploited by an adult male in the Lower Mainland. Officers subsequently launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Majid Talebi.

The B.C. Prosecution Service approved one count of invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16 years and two counts of telecommunication to lure a child under 16 years against Talebi on Aug. 11, 2026.

Const. Sam Zacharias said the investigation was carried out by the department’s Major Crime Section and included a tandem civil forfeiture process.

According to the news release, detectives worked over the past year to collect evidence and bring the matter before the courts. Talebi was scheduled to make his first appearance in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court on Aug. 26. The court has ordered a publication ban prohibiting the publication of information that could identify the victim.
