A routine grocery run turned into a life-changing moment for North Vancouver resident Pastora R., who learned she had matched all four Extra numbers from the April 18, 2026, Lotto 6/49 draw — winning $500,000.
According to the press release, Pastora had initially checked her ticket, hoping for the $5-million Classic Jackpot prize. “I was in the store and checked my numbers for the $5-million Classic Jackpot prize,” she recalled. “They weren’t my numbers so when I checked my ticket on the self-scanner, I was really surprised!”

She wasted no time sharing the good news with those around her. “I made jokes with the lottery teller about being a winner!” The winning ticket was purchased at Chevron on Main Street in North Vancouver.
Pastora plans to mark the occasion with friends over a night out. “We’ll go out and enjoy dinner,” she said. As for the windfall itself, she intends to put the funds toward purchasing a home and a car.
On what the win means to her, Pastora was reflective. “I feel relaxed. It helps me in life and I hope to be able to help others.”
According to the press release, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $19 million from Extra and $34 million from Lotto 6/49 so far in 2026. Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. PST. Tickets can be purchased at lottery retailers or at PlayNow.com.
