One person was injured in a building collapse at the former Cineplex Esplanade on Chesterfield Avenue.
According to Sgt. Peter DeVries of North Van RCMP, police received report of a structural failure at a construction site on Chesterfield Avenue around 9:45 am.
DeVries said there was a collapse of either a part of the building or some equipment.
According to Twitter user Nigel Hubbard, a crane fell during the demolition, although that has yet to be confirmed by authorities.

One person has been injured and taken to the hospital, though their condition is not known at this point.
North Van RCMP is expected to provide more details soon.
