Parts of Argyle Avenue in West Vancouver will be closed and will have parking restrictions next week for restoration work on Ferry Building. From Monday, December 5 to Wednesday, December 7, between 8 am and 4 pm, there will be temporary parking restrictions on the street.
Argyle Avenue, between 14th Street and 15th Street, will also be fully closed during these three days. The road closures are to install BC Hydro infrastructure at the Ferry Building Gallery. Construction is subject to change depending on weather and contractor availability.
With restoration work almost complete, the Ferry Building is expected to reopen this winter. The Government of Canada is investing $1,010,360 and the Province is contributing $841,882 for this project.
The 108-year-old Ferry Building is a municipally designated heritage site and cannot be altered unless a Heritage Alteration Permit is issued. On February 22, 2021, Council approved the Heritage Alteration Permit to allow restoration of the Ferry Building.
