West Vancouver police is recommending a charge of Assault with a Weapon on a 29-year-old man who allegedly discharged bear spray at a construction site in West Vancouver.
West Vancouver Police were called to a construction site office at Park Royal South shortly after 8:30 a.m, where workers had reported a male in the office claiming he was looking for work. A worker at the site office believed they recognized the male as a suspect from a theft reported February 16.
While one worker attempted to call police a struggle broke out between the suspect and a second worker. Victims reported the suspect discharged bear spray at both men and ran away. The suspect was not immediately located.
Following further investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested without incident Monday afternoon at a home in the 300 block of Kwum Kwum Road in West Vancouver.
The suspect was held overnight at West Vancouver Police headquarters for a first appearance at North Vancouver Provincial Court today.
Along with an assault charge, police are also recommending a charge for failure to comply with probation order against the West Vancouver man.
