North Van RCMP has arrested a person for making a hoax call to the Lynn Valley Centre at height of the pandemic.
In a letter to the community, the Lynn Valley Care Centre said they received a phone call in early March that seemed to be have come from health authorities.
The phone call deeply alarmed the staff, although the centre didn’t specify what the caller said.
In the next few days, LVCC discovered that it was a hoax.
“A great deal of harm has already been done to out capacity to provide the highest standard of care for which LVCC has come to be know,” the centre said.
It caused needless fear among residents and their families, the centre said, and diverted valuable time and resources from the capacity to work to fight COVID-19.
“That call kicked us while we were down, really down.”
Lynn Valley Care Centre reported the incident to RCMP, who have since made an arrest in the case.
“Our LVCC family can rest a little easier in that knowledge. We will continue to cooperate worth the investigation and any requirements of the court, should the need arise,” LVCC said.
