A traffic controller working in Deep Cove was reportedly hit by a vehicle during the Easter long weekend. North Vancouver RCMP continues to investigate the incident.
The incident took place on March 31 at around 4 p.m. when the driver of a Nissan SUV refused to follow the flagger’s instructions near the intersection of Gallant Avenue and Panorama Drive, Cst Mansoor Sahak with North Vancouver RCMP confirmed with the North Shore Daily Post.
Rather than following directions, the driver kept moving forward the vehicle, according to those who called the police to report this incident. The SUV hit the flagger’s leg. He was taken to the hospital to be treated, though the extent of his injuries is not clear, said Cst. Sahak.
“Flagging is a very difficult and risky job. When drivers become impatient, it puts the flagger at even greater risk,” Cst. Sahak told local media. Sahak said police would like to remind people that Deep Cove is a high-traffic area and drivers are urged to be patient. Police plan to question the driver who hit the flagger.
