The District of West Vancouver has received a preliminary redevelopment proposal for a nine-storey mixed-use building for the Masonic Hall site in Ambleside.
Residents are being invited to comment on the plan at a public consultation meeting on Wednesday, January 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1763 Bellevue Avenue, West Vancouver. The developer is organizing the meeting, not the District, though it’s required by policy.
The developer wants to redevelop the property into a nine-storey building containing 24 apartments, two commercial or office units facing Bellevue Avenue, and a dedicated community-use space on the second floor.
The site is currently occupied by a two-storey structure that formerly housed the Masonic Hall and has been subject to previous redevelopment proposals. The project would also include an underground parking garage accessed from Bellevue Avenue, as well as limited surface parking from the rear lane.
West Vancouver council voted on October 6, 2025, to allow the proposal to proceed to public consultation, which permits early consideration of projects within local area plan areas if community benefits and planning objectives can be addressed.
District planning staff say feedback from the consultation will help inform whether and how the proposal advances through future stages of review.
Residents with questions about the process or the proposal may contact Michelle McGuire, the District’s senior manager of current planning and urban design, at 604-925-7059 or through the District’s planning department.
The property falls within the Ambleside Centre Local Area Plan boundary.
