Residents will have an opportunity to learn more about a proposed residential development at 1552 Esquimalt Avenue during an applicant-hosted public information meeting on April 16.

The proposal, submitted by Wall Financial Corporation, calls for the construction of a 19-storey infill residential tower with 126 strata units on a site currently occupied by a 20-storey rental apartment building.

The existing 185-unit rental building would remain on the property and be secured as rental housing. Plans also include a phased reconstruction of the parkade to maintain on-site parking during construction, with a total of 336 parking stalls proposed, along with additional bicycle storage.

The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the West Vancouver Community Centre in a drop-in format. No formal presentation is scheduled.

The development application was reviewed by the district’s Planning Committee on March 11, which recommended support for the proposal. However, the committee does not have decision-making authority, and the project has not yet been scheduled for consideration by the council.

According to the applicant, the proposal aligns with policies in the Ambleside Local Area Plan adopted in July 2024, which anticipates additional residential infill on the site.

District officials note the April 16 session is organized by the applicant and is not a municipal event.

Residents can provide feedback, ask questions, and meet the project team at the session or through the project website.
