The Shipyards District Business Improvement Area (SDBIA) has announced that the Shipyards Festival is returning to the Shipyards District on Saturday, September 23, from noon to 10 pm.
This free event features musical performances across two stages, Shipbuilders Square Stage presented by WAVE 98.3, and Commons Stage presented by Lonsdale Quay Market.
Performing artists include SonReal, JUNO Nominated singer, songwriter and rapper known to bring the energy, plus Miina, a new project by the band formerly known as Carmanah, who will debut an exciting new show. North Vancouver favourites Tourist Company are also joining the lineup – coming out of an extended hiatus to play Shipyards. Other must-see performances are Sol, Garret T. Willie, Ruin Garner, Michaela Slinger and many more.
This will be a car free day, and locals can stop by the Carrie Cates Court for more music, vendors and important information on how to make sustainable transportation choices. An amazing lineup of musicians will be taking the Car Free Stage at the bottom of Lonsdale including Devours, Project Vancity, Jordel, Adam Mah, Dani Camacho, Glisha and more.
Back this year for the little ones is the Seaspan Family Zone in the Pipe Shop, with performances by Katie Brock and juggler extraordinaire Mike Battie, as well as bounce houses, face painting, glitter tattoos, crafts and balloon art for the kids to enjoy.
The sitewide licence will also allow locals to enjoy a beverage from North Point Brewing, Swandive, Strongbow and Olé, while taking in all the music and activities Shipyards Festival has to offer.
The Burrard Dry Dock will also feature acoustic performances, plus a new stage on Cates Deck, will feature performances by Francis Baptiste, Joe Abbott, Silent St J & more, thanks to Vancouver’s North Shore Tourism Association. There will be food trucks, and a beer garden will be set up for this event.
