A special weather statement is in effect for Coquihalla Highway.
High elevation snowfall is expected Saturday night and Sunday with amounts up to 15 cm on the highway, from Hope to Merritt.
After a relatively mild day on Saturday, an intense cold front will cross the B.C. interior on Sunday.
Snow will begin Saturday night.
When the front arrives, snow levels are expected to be near the passes, so only the highest elevations will receive snow.
Blustery winds are also expected to give reduced visibilities at times in blowing snow.
Snow will taper off later Sunday as the front passes and snow levels will drop quickly to the valley bottoms by Sunday evening.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
