Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for North Shore.
Heavy rain begins on Saturday night and rainfall amounts of 75 to 150 mm can be expected.
“A series of moisture laden systems associated with an atmospheric river from the Pacific will begin arriving Saturday evening and bring heavy rain to the South Coast. Meanwhile the freezing level will lift to over the mountain tops,” says the agency.
Heavy rain in combination with the melting snow can result in high stream levels and local flooding.
The statement is also in effect for Howe Sound, Lower Fraser Valley, and southern sections of Sunshine Coast.
The rainfall begins on Saturday evening and continues to Monday morning.
