North Vancouver, BC — Twenty years ago, Sprucehill Homes was little more than a vision shared by founder Erik Jensen and his wife, Lianne. Today, the North Vancouver-based company is celebrating two decades of transforming the local landscape, one home at a time. By challenging the construction industry’s reputation for uncertainty, they have become a staple of the North Shore building community.

Founded in 2006, Sprucehill Homes has grown from a one-man operation into an award-winning team specializing in major renovations, additions, and custom homes throughout the North Shore and Metro Vancouver. Throughout that growth, the company’s focus has remained remarkably consistent: build exceptional homes while delivering an exceptional client experience.

For Jensen, the path into construction and becoming a local industry expert was unconventional. After earning a Computer Science degree from UBC and managing an IT company, he found himself drawn toward a different path while volunteering at Camp Artaban on Gambier Island. What began as helping construct a plumbing facility for the camp became a life-changing realization that building was where his true passion lay.

“I realized I loved creating something tangible that would make a difference in people’s lives,” Jensen said. “Construction wasn’t just about building structures; it was about helping families create spaces where life’s most important moments happen.”

That philosophy became the foundation of Sprucehill Homes.

Over the past 20 years, the company has completed projects ranging from large-scale renovations and home additions to custom homes across North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Vancouver, Burnaby, and surrounding communities. Along the way, Sprucehill earned a reputation for bringing organization, transparency, and technology-driven efficient project management to an industry often known for the opposite.

Jensen credits a significant part of the company’s growth to applying systems-thinking and technology principles from his tech background. Today, detailed project planning, real-time budget tracking, and transparent communication form the framework of the company’s operations. Practices meant to eliminate the uncertainty often associated with home renovations.

As housing demand and renovation activity continue to shape the communities we live, Sprucehill has evolved alongside the communities. What started as a small construction company has grown into a multidisciplinary team of project managers, designers, coordinators,

carpenters, and trade partners working together to deliver complex projects with a high degree of professionalism and accountability.

“Our success has never been about the buildings alone,” Jensen says. “It’s about the trust clients place in us. Homes are deeply personal, and we never forget that we’re being invited into one of the most important investments and spaces in someone’s life.”

A lifelong Vancouver resident who has spent most of his life on the North Shore, Jensen noted that the region’s unique geography and community character have heavily influenced the company’s focus.

Looking ahead, Jensen says the vision for Sprucehill Homes remains focused on scaling operations across Western Canada while continuing to push for higher standards of professionalism and accountability in the building sector.

For a company built on trust, communication, and craftsmanship, the milestone serves as both a celebration of the past and a foundation for the future. Today, we are recognized as industry experts, committed to shaping the future of construction in Western Canada.

Twenty years after trading dress shoes for work boots, Jensen and his team are still building, and by all indications, they’re just getting started.
