Two critical after serious collision on Highway 1 in West Vancouver

A vehicle travelling the wrong way has caused serious injuries on Highway 1 in West Vancouver.

Emergency crews are currently on scene and investigating a serious collision involving a motorhome and three vehicles on Highway 1 eastbound between Cypress Bowl Rd and 22nd St.

The accident happened around 11:28 am on Highway 1 eastbound, Between Cypress Bowl Rd and 22nd street. Early reports indicate that the driver of the motorhome was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes when the vehicle caused two other vehicles to swerve before going head-on with the third and final vehicle.

Five ambulances transported five people to the hospital. Two are believed to be in critical condition, while four sustained minor injuries. Due to the serious nature of the incident, members of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are on scene.

Highway 1 eastbound between Cypress Bowl Rd and 22nd Street will be closed for several hours. “This is a tragic incident,” says Cst. Nicole Braithwaite. “We are looking for any witnesses who may have information in regard to this incident to please contact police.” The investigation is ongoing.
