Two North Van restaurants in Canada’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2021

March 19, 2021 1:11pm

Two North Vancouver restaurants have made their way to Canada’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2021 list created by Yelp.

The Workshop Vegetarian Café at 296 Pemberton Avenue and Pawan Indian Kitchen at 1925 Lonsdale Avenue  were the two restaurants that were included in the list of top places to eat in the country.

Workshop Café bills itself as an easygoing rustic-modern café serving locally sourced vegetarian & vegan dishes, and coffee.

Pawan is known locally for serving classic Indian dishes from masala to curries and samosas.

“We are deeply honoured and would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our local customers on North Shore,” said the owner, Chef Pawan.

Workshop Vegetarian Café took the 35th spot on the list, while Pawan Indian Kitchen was placed 25th on the list.

“We are very flattered and happy and would like to thank the community for the support. We are very thrilled that we made it to the list,” said Tak Yamada, the co-owner of Workshop Cafe.

The list was compiled by Yelp, which came up with the list after asking its reviewers to ‘create a list that includes unique and highly admired restaurants across Canada.’

“For the first time ever, this year’s Top 100 Places to Eat in Canada list is the culmination of thousands of suggestions we received from the Yelp community, a list of hidden gems and familiar favorites that can put a smile on anyone’s face,” Yelp said.

Toronto remains a top foodie destination with 27 eateries making the list, and claiming 6 of the top 10 spots.

In Montreal, 15 restaurants are on the list and Vancouver has 23 notable restaurants that made their way to the list.
