A 19-year-old man is facing weapons charges following a street disorder incident in downtown Vancouver’s Granville Entertainment District.
According to the news release by VPD, a shop employee intervened shortly before 1:50 a.m. after observing a man knocking over tables and showing people a knife. The suspect then began stabbing the store sign, prompting the employee to walk away and call police.
Officers located a man matching the suspect’s description about two blocks away and took him into custody. Police also recovered a knife, the release noted.
Noah Kawerninski, 19, has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, according to the news release. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
